Start with the home, then the equipment
Choosing a replacement involves more than matching the old unit’s label. Home size, insulation, duct condition, airflow, and the way you use your home affect the recommendation. Tell us about rooms that stay warm, humidity concerns, and any changes you have made to the house.
When should you consider replacement?
- Your system needs frequent repairs.
- A major repair makes you want to compare longer-term options.
- Comfort problems persist and the existing equipment may be a poor fit.
- You are planning an upgrade to your heating and cooling system.
Age alone does not settle the decision. If the system can be repaired, we can discuss AC repair alongside replacement.
What we discuss before installation
We explain the proposed equipment, compatibility with the indoor unit and controls, relevant ductwork needs, and what the estimate includes. Ask about efficiency ratings, filter access, warranty terms, and the steps required for your particular installation. We do not recommend choosing a larger unit simply because Houston gets hot.
Installation and getting to know your system
Careful installation includes checking operation and helping you understand the controls and routine care. We can point out the filter location and explain how to keep the air path clear. Read our air-filter replacement guide and explore ongoing maintenance.
How do I get an estimate?
Call or text with a brief description of your existing system and your goals. We will help plan the next step and explain the options in English or Spanish.
